Supreme Court oral arguments on LGBT equal access to public accommodations.

December 5, 2017

Tuesday, December 5th On this morning the Supreme Court will hear arguments in the case of Masterpiece Cake Shop vs. Colorado Civil Rights Commission.

This is a case about more than mere wedding cakes. At issue is whether LGBTQs will have equal access to public accommodations of all sorts, or if businesses can cite spurious “religious freedom” protections to justify their bigotry. Equal access to public accommodations was one of the signature achievements of the early Civil Rights Movement of blacks in the early 1960s. At the time, racist bigots like Rev. Jerry Falwell cited it as their justification for maintaining racial segregation.

To re-legitimize segregation in any form would be a huge step backwards for our society.

Details to be announced.
