Earlier this month the Gay Liberation Network hosted a house party to raise money for Chelsea Manning’s legal defense fund. We’re gratified by the many other individuals and representatives of other organizations who participated!
Among other things we discussed how the attacks on Chelsea Manning, Julian Assange and Wikileaks are attacks on freedom of the press and the right, not to mention obligation, to report government wrongdoing, especially when such wrongdoing includes murder by U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The event included the screening of a 7-minute film of Ms. Manning just before her most recent imprisonment, as she enters the building where the grand jury proceedings are to take place, not knowing if she will be allowed to exit as freely as she entered.
