GLN MARRIAGE RIGHTS NEWS

CELEBRATE

PROTEST on

FREEDOM TO MARRY DAY!

This Saturday!

With "statesmen" in Congress scheduling another vote on a federal, anti-gay amendment to the Constitution, timed to coincide with the 2006 elections, and all three branches of the government increasingly ranged against us, the need for civil rights-style marches and protests in defense of our rights is more important than ever.

It was just such protests which rolled back the tide of Anita Bryant bigotry in the 1970s, it was just such personal participation in vigils and marches which raised the country's awareness about anti-LGBT violence following the murder of Matthew Shepard in 1998. Indeed, it was street protests that gave birth to the modern gay movement in 1969.

Please join us at 11 AM sharp this Saturday, February 11 as we demand to be treated like equal citizens in front of the Cook County Marriage License Bureau, 118 N. Clark Street, Chicago (across the street from Daley Plaza).
