Open Meetings Act Trial vs. Chicago City Council

July 16 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Monday, July 16 – Trial to determine if a $15.8 million TIF subsidy for luxury housing in Uptown will be cancelled. In June 2016 the Chicago City Council excluded the public from its meeting and rammed through this huge taxpayer subsidy to build luxury hi-rises just yards away from homeless encampments.

This trial will determine if the Council meeting was illegal under the Illinois Open Meetings Act and hence all final decisions, including the TIF subsidy, should be declared null and void. GLN’s Andy Thayer and longtime LGBTQ activist Rick Garcia are co-plaintiffs. Courtroom 2405, Richard J. Daley Center, 50 W. Washington Street.

Note that you will have to go through a metal detector before entering the courtroom.
