“That Line of White Privilege”

Originally published February 28, 2016

A few hundred packed the monthly Chicago Police Board meeting last night demanding the firing of cops who have murdered civilians and faced no consequences. Sprinkled in the audience were family members of the deceased.

When one protester ceded his time at the microphone to Panzy Edwards, the mom of 15-year-old Dakota Bright – killed by a still-unidentified Chicago cop in 2012 – the chairperson tried to cut her off.

The chairperson then objected to the use of profanity, as if their continuing failure to fire ANY cops who murder civilians was not obscene.
